Various thoughts on your podcast: “Gimme Shelter” is my favorite Stones song…Chris Farley and David Spade have a hilarious scene in “Tommy Boy” where they're singing “Superstar” by the Carpenters in a car with tears streaming down their faces…Let me be the first to crack a “Brokeback” joke, you said you were on date when you saw it, was it a guy?! Not that there’s anything wrong with that! I still haven’t seen “Brokeback” yet, although I will watch it at some point. I agree with an acquaintance of mine on it, though, I don’t like heterosexual love stories!…I had a huge crush on Linda Ronstadt when I was in college, which clouded my thinking on her music. That ended when I went to her concert. It was 10 days after I saw Bruce Springsteen for the first time. Ronstadt’s entire concert, including encores, was shorter than Springsteens first set! The music won out in the end. I’m not sure of my vote between Ronstadt and Carly Simon, Simon’s cover shot on “You’re so Vain” might swing it.

Correction, Simon's album was "No Secrets", which had the song "You're so Vain" on it. It was, of course, rumored to be about Mick Jagger or Warren Beatty or James Taylor. My guess is that it might have been all three. Jagger's alleged response on "Goat's Head Soup" was the song "Star Star", although the second Star meant something else, the song was about someone who sleeps with stars or celebrities, the chorus was pretty graphic.
